JOHNNY'S TAKE
|
The film looks like it was made on a $1000 budget, it features heroes with mullets, and the make-up jobs for the
zombies are nothing more than a little white powder on the face. How good could you possibly expect this to be?
But, believe it or not, there is some real humor here! My favorite scene involves one character's rant against
Pepsi. He goes to a fast food restaurant, orders breakfast, and orders a Coke. Unfortunately, they only serve Pepsi.
Dude is not happy, and he unleashes an accurate diatribe on the "so-called choice of a new generation." He ends by
stating, "I've been somewhere else where they don't let you decide what you want to drink - Red China."
Preach on, brother! Bravo to the filmmakers for this legitimately clever and humorous bit of writing. I much prefer
Coke over Pepsi, so I could totally relate to what he was saying. One of the drawbacks of Taco Bell (other than the
all-night diarrhea) is the fact that they only carry Pepsi products.
I also hate when I go to a restaurant and order a Dr. Pepper and the waiter/waitress responds, "We don't have Dr.
Pepper. Is Mr. Pibb OK?" No, Mr. Pibb is NOT OK! If I wanted Mr. Pibb then don't you think that's what I
would've ordered? There's a reason Pibb is a Mr. and Pepper is a Dr.
Ah, a little social commentary in a cheapo zombie flick. Who'd have thought?

MAMA'S APPROVAL
|
I saw it on the Sci-Fi Channel so it really wasn't all that objectionable. But just look at the rating and you can
tell the unedited DVD ain't for the kiddies.

TRAILER COMPARISON
|
Feel free to check out the trailer at the movie's webpage that I have linked above. It doesn't scream "MUST SEE,"
but hey, at least it shows you what to expect.

THE GIST
|
It should go without saying that this is not for the average Joe, but those of you who like your horror
movies cheap and cheesy will find some enjoyment in Hide and Creep.
