THE THEATER
|
From a technical standpoint, Muvico (located in Peabody Place) is a nice theater. The seats are comfortable, there
is plenty of leg room, and the GIANT SCREEN theater is unparalleled - not a bad seat in the house. But Muvico
is not very convenient unless you live downtown or are already downtown for another reason.
If you live out east, do you really want to drive all the way downtown for a movie? After all, parking can be a
bit of a hassle. Oh, sure, you can park in the parking garage for free for 2.5 hours with a validated movie pass,
but good luck finding time to eat AND watch the movie. And don't even think about trying to figuring out a way
to do a little shopping unless you're content on paying a parking fee. There's not much to get excited about in
regard to shopping though because the mall's stores aren't that great.
If you live anywhere east of Midtown, then I recommend Paradiso or
Cordova Cinema instead.

Muvico also offers such fancy options as calzone, quesadillas, mozzarella sticks, and curly fries with prices
ranging from $5 to $6.50. Find your food somewhere else in the mall because these are the most expensive movie
concessions in the city. There's a rumor that they're gonna add a loan office inside the theater soon.

THE GIST
|
Muvico is a fine option for anybody who already lives or has business downtown. For the rest of us, Muvico is good
for maybe once a year to see a special effects-heavy blockbuster on the giant screen. However, this screen is
upstairs, and it'll take you 3-4 minutes to go to the bathroom and return to your seat. So make sure to take care
of that BEFORE the movie. Otherwise, Muvico is just too inconvenient due to its location, parking, outrageously
priced concessions, and sometimes annoying clientele.
If you decide to try Muvico, then be sure and tell 'em that Johnny Betts sent you, but with reservations. Ignore
the insults that follow in response. They're not meant for you.
