thanks, the 3D-part is what kept me from watching it so far (beside the fact that I didn’t think it was time for a reboot yet)

It would work perfectly fine in 2D. In fact, I wouldn’t recommend paying the extra money to see it in 3D. There are a handful of “3D scenes” but it’s mostly quick action shots as Spidey’s swinging around on his web. The trailer crammed it all in to convince audiences it would be worth the extra $2 or $3.

From the trailer it seemed like this film relied on its “OH WOW 3D”-scenes. Would the film work in 2D as well or would one have to cut 30 minutes of “stuff flying at you” out?

Right on! This was one excellent reboot. No major flaws.

I’m going to see this tonight and I think I may be more excited to see this than the Avengers. If I didn’t have to work last night, I would have gone to the premiere with you.
