MOVIE HORROR STORIES

Shrek OUT
by Tiffany W.

I decided to go see Shrek 2 one day by myself. I had been having some relationship troubles and I thought a movie would cheer me up so I decided to go to a matinee. Unbeknownst to me that is also a great time to take toddlers & babies to a movie!?! I walked into the theater and there were a few adults and a few older children sitting down, but for the most part it was pretty bare. The movie started and I thought, "WOW, this is great! I need to check out movies more often on a Tuesday afternoon."

Just as I got totally immersed in my day getaway, a family of five ... YES - five ... came in and sat down. OK, it is a children's film so that's understandable. OH MY GOSH... they had a baby that started wailing, and their 3-year-old was crawling around on the floor, on the steps, etc. The other kids decided they were starving and malnourished and kept getting up and down to get snacks. I have never been so annoyed at the rudeness of other people. It was a nightmare, and I haven't gone back at that time of day since.

Johnny: Typically, if a family struts into a movie with a baby then you can immediately assume they're douchebags who only care about their own enjoyment.

"Johnny! How dare you! You can't prejudge people like that!"

Yes I can. Going to the movies these days is all about survival. Unfortunately, in order to protect YOUR enjoyment you have to expect the worst from all other moviegoers. A family with a baby and a conscience will sit close to the front and on the end of the aisle. If they plop down right in the middle then you know it's time to look for a new seat ... far away from them. They might be nice people, but you didn't just fork over approximately $9 a pop to look for the best in people.

Moral of the Story: If a family with kids rolls in, let the search for new seats begin.

Send your stories to me and let the whole world know just how dangerous going to the movies can be.
