MOVIE HORROR STORIES

What's That Smell?
by Lavanya

So a friend and I decide to go watch Peter Pan, which incidentally is a fantastic movie (or so I think). Anyway, we get to the theatre and as we're sitting down this smell hits us. I swear it was like a rotting fish, one that had been rotting for months. We had no clue what it was. We sat there whispering about it for a while and then we hear this distinct crunching sound from right behind us where this horrid smell was coming from. So we think eeeeeeeeeeeew someone is eating something that smells this horrific?

Anyway, we switch seats. After two seconds the chick behind us switches to the seats we were sitting in. So, very puzzled, we start sniffing at each other thinking that maybe it's us who smell? We turn to look at the poor chick who moved and I swear her cheeks were starting to turn blue ... all that effort of having to hold her breath. And sure enough two seconds later she too shifted. Seriously there is nothing in this world that could have smelt more horrid. Blech!!

Johnny: Lavanya later told me that they never figured out what the smell was. If she had been watching "Torque" then we would've known that the smell was coming from the screen. Unfortunately, it's a smell that is destined to forever remain a mystery.

It reminds me of the time I was sitting a couple of seats down from some dude who had major B.O. We're talking gym socks cheese. I couldn't switch seats because this was an advanced screening and the theater was full. I spent the entire movie with my finger pressed against my nostrils taking very small breaths. Loads of fun.

Moral of the Story: Bathe once a day and wear deodorant just to make sure you're not the cause of a really horrific smell in the theater.

Send your stories to me and let the whole world know just how dangerous going to the movies can be.
