MOVIE HORROR STORIESHere's Part 1 of Paul's horror story: On the advice of a certain critic who shall remain nameless, I went to see Lady in the Water, and I suffered mightily. Oh, and the critic's name is Johnny Betts. He then went on to do a little editorializing: I enjoy your reviews, but I thought that the random, "make-it-up-as-you-go-ness" of Lady in the Water was almost bad enough to be a Sci-Fi Original. But other than that, you're pretty on the money. But Lady in the Water my gosh! I think I got some sort of malignant tumor from watching that movie from start to finish. Nevertheless, great site. Except for the Lady in the Water review. You know, I tried to explain the premise of the movie to my friend, and by the time I got up to the part with the monkeys, he had already had me committed. I like your site, though. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, M. Night Shyamalan Johnny: OK, so I've finally found one person who disagreed with one of my reviews. But could you see how painful it was for him to admit that he didn't see eye-to-eye with me in this particular case? Ah well. Paul's young. One day he'll watch Lady in the Water again and will be shocked by how much he likes it. Plus, let the record show that he's from New York. Everybody knows those Northerners (or as my politically incorrect grandmother used to call 'em - foreigners) don't have quite the refined, gentlemanly tastes as we Southerners do. Moral of the Story: Only 99% of the people agree with me 100% of the time, but 100% of the people agree with me at least 99% of the time. That's not so much a moral as it is a mere statement, but just go with it. Send your stories to me and let the whole world know just how dangerous going to the movies can be. |
